Praise for this book
I sat down and read this book from beginning to end after it arrived. Her sense of humor and conversational style make it easy to read. There are lots of tips that gave me lightbulb moments, and that I know I will refer to again when I am sewing a project. I am an experienced sewist, and this book is going to be a great help for me when I need to get details right on things like collars, linings, or welt pockets.
I've been sewing for decades and when making clothes from commercial patterns I've often been frustrated by the results. Barbara does an excellent job of addressing common problems and then offering a solution for fixing the item and also what to do the next time to avoid problem. So very helpful! I wish I'd had this book when I was starting out.The writing is clear and photos help to explain the processes. This is the next best thing to sitting with her at the sewing machine. I'd recommend this for people with all levels of experience in sewing. Excellent book!
